My name is Bethany Guerra and I attend South San high school where I am a junior.
My goal is to attend a college that has a graphics design program or animation/film/music. I love the arts and music. I love creating, designing and sometimes writing music. I was fortunate enough to also sing in my brother’s band. It motivated me to be creative and open up to people. One of my biggest accomplishments has been writing and singing on our band’s EP. It is exciting to know people have bought it and that I was a part of creating and putting it together. I plan to continue on this path of art and music.
I was also honored to be part of NHS this year and I am working hard to stay in the top 10% of my class of 650. I also participate in the volleyball program at the high school and enjoy being part of the team. We have helped the police department wrap gifts for the kids who are in need. I have also volunteered for several years in my old middle school with after school tutoring and/or theatre arts.
This year is my first year being a part of the SA Youth Commission and it has been pretty interesting. I have been a part of some of the volunteer programs with SAYC including the Ella Austin Community Center and the Martin Luther King March. I have met new people and enjoy working with them.
With all the different experiences, I have been lucky enough to be a part of, it has shown me how to be motivating and how to encourage others to do what you can for yourself and others. I hope to one day do more for people in need.
Bethany Guerra is a junior attending South San Antonio High School. Beth is applying to colleges and has received her first admissions acceptance letter from the Pratt Institute of NY. She is also looking into Full Sail University in FL. and wants to major in Art/Design.
