Fiesta Means Party! College Means Opportunity!
We joined leaders from Communities in Schools, University of the Incarnate Word, Microsoft and more, as Miss Fiesta helped lead a college transition leadership training for our high school students in SAYC as well as Generation TX San Antonio. Students learned about the vast opportunities available to them as soon as they enter college, and what they can do to prepare for that next big step in their academic careers.
Student Aid San Antonio
The Youth Commission has the humble opportunity to represent the youth on a critical initiative to improve the rate of financial aid form completion in San Antonio, ensuring that more seniors are increasing their support for higher education. We work alongside esteemed colleagues from the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Firstmark Credit Union, Trinity University College Advising Corps, San Antonio Education Partnership, and SA2020 to reach the greater student population. We look forward to continuing our support and funding our students’ future!

TEDxYouthSanAntonio @ SaySi
In order to celebrate TEDxYouth International, the Youth Commission joined TEDxSanAntonio and SaySi for the first ever TEDxYouthSanAntonio event. The event featured a live stream from Brooklyn, NY with students tuning in from all across the globe, TEDxYouth talks curated and facilitated by SAYC and SaySi student leaders, and multimedia interactions in SaySi’s vibrant and eclectic art space. The students built incredible dialogues on how to change our community for the better, and how to believe in the power of self to inspire the collective good. The event acted as a test for a future live TEDxYouthSanAntonio, fully led by students and designed to fully demonstrate their ability to make a real and lasting impact on our community. The Youth Commission is excited to experience the future of this great collaboration.
